bareMinerals Spring 2013 Makeup Collection — It’s the Remix, Baby!
Last fall, when makeup brand bareMinerals released its first collection of pressed eyeshadow duos and quads, I was floored by the intensity of the colors in the range and their lustrous finishes, which were consistent with the high quality established by their loose pigment predecessors, but I was particularly relieved to find these stunning eye shadows in a pressed form that proved both portable and mess-free (as most of us know, the “buff, tap, and swirl” technique wasn’t exactly conducive to cleanly vanity tables or bathroom counters). Now, just as the sun’s rays begin to intensify, bareMinerals has revealed a collection meant to amp up the volume in the color department. The bareMinerals REMIX Spring 2013 collection, then, is perhaps reflective of the mineral makeup brand’s transition towards pressed formulations since it incorporates two new bareMinerals READY Eyeshadow 4.0 palettes with which to create high-voltage looks, along with the bareMinerals READY Blush in The Natural High ($22 at BareEscentuals.com), a golden seashell pink with gold and magenta micro pearls meant to give cheeks a sun-kissed and rosy appearance, and pairs them with complexion-perfecting loose pigment products like the Bronzing Mineral Veil Finishing Powder Broad Spectrum SPF 25 ($20 at BareEscentuals.com) and the new Secret Radiance All-Over Sheen ($19 at BareEscentuals.com), which gives the face a soft champagne gold glow. Other products in the collection include the new Flawless Definition Mascara in Aqua Blast ($18 at BareEscentuals.com) an electric turquoise shade with which to coat, lengthen, and amplify lashes, and the brand new Loud & Clear Lip Sheer ($15 at BareEscentuals.com), a moisturizing lip product that provides just a wash of sheer and glossy color.

LOUD & CLEAR LIP SHEER
If you have a minimalist approach to makeup, you’ll appreciate the brand new bareMinerals Loud & Clear ($15 each at BareEscentuals.com) lip products, which offer just a touch of glistening, sheer, perky color. Even inside their retractable tubes — which were given a delicious metallic teal hue that will make you anticipate summer pool parties —these lip colors look as enticing as newly opened Popsicles on a scorching August afternoon. Made with shea butter and jojoba oil, the bareMinerals Loud & Clear lip colors condition and moisturize lips while depositing just the faintest touch of glistening color, making the pout look succulent and juicy. The color payoff is minimal — even more subtle than what you’d get from a Clinique Chubby Stick, a Maybelline Baby Lips lip balm, or a tinted Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment. Whereas the aforementioned products leave your lips looking as if you’d just eaten an Italian ice, the Loud & Clear gives your mouth an even more translucent veil of color — more like a splash of pink lemonade or even, if you will, a cherry or apricot glaze. The gel-like texture of the Loud & Clear Lip Sheer is enticing as it glides right atop lids and you’ll be delighted by the product’s zesty orange scent (a very clever touch that amplifies its playful vibe) but, in terms of pigmentation, it’s next to non-existent. Shine, however, is a different matter altogether since, as its name implies, the bareMinerals Loud & Clear leaves lips looking slick without being so blindingly bright as to look lacquered, plus there’s none of the unpleasant sticky and tacky quality we associate with lipgloss.
Since I yield for bold lip color, I doubt I’ll be using these regularly, but I do think they’ll come in extra handy on days when I want to hit the beach and prefer to wear only the faintest amount of lip color.
The new bareMinerals Loud & Clear is available in three shades: Amped Pink, a sheer hot pink; Tangerine Trance, a playful orange; and Berry Remix, a raspberry pink with plum undertones.

READY EYESHADOW 4.0 PALETTES
As I mentioned before, I was practically doing cartwheels when bareMinerals released its first batch of READY eyeshadow palettes last fall so, as soon as I saw the two quads for Spring 2013, I was ready to get my go-go juice and start swatching! Together, the two new bareMinerals READY Eyeshadow 4.0 palettes ($30 each at BareEscentuals.com) create a bit of a surf and turf theme, with The Next Big Thing incorporating brown, gold, coral, and bronze tones for more of an earthy quality and The Wild Thing featuring aquatic tones like turquoise-tinged marine blue, a pale sea spray blue with a touch of soft aquamarine, an island-worthy kiwi green, and a bronzed brown.

bareMinerals READY Eyeshadow 4.0 in The Next Big Thing
During Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Fall 2013 in February, I found myself constantly turning to the bareMinerals READY Eyeshadow 4.0 in The Next Big Thing ($30 at BareEscentuals.com) to add some punch to otherwise neutral eye looks. The golden peach shadow in the palette has a slightly creamy quality to it that gives it a confectionery charm — all without looking overly dainty or verging into dated , chalky pastel territory — and both the golden metallic hues are stunning. One shade is, of course, an intense Etruscan gold color with tons of chunky shimmer for a textural advantage, while the other golden hue has more of a slinky, molten feel. And, of course, that muddy brown shade, with its sprinkle of golden sheen adds just the right amount of depth to any gilded look.

bareMinerals READY Eyeshadow 4.o in The Wild Thing
I am living for the bareMinerals READY Eyeshadow 4.o in The Wild Thing ($30 at BareEscentuals.com) right about now! I actually JUST wore colors from this palette during a recent Telemundo appearance, and I got tons of compliments about my makeup. The colors in this palette will transport you to a Caribbean island — particularly the two blue shades, one a pearlescent seafoam blue with snowy white shimmer, and the other a teal-tinged marine blue saturated with teal and turquoise shimmer. The acid green shade, reminiscent of the inside of a juicy kiwi, adds some much-needed contrast to the palette and makes any eye look pop. To balance these electrifying shades, meanwhile, the palette includes a tarnished bronzed brown that’s somewhat akin to MAC’s Venetian Tarnish eyeshadow.

Next, check out the eyeshadow look I rocked on Telemundo. My apologies for the mean-looking face — by the time I remembered to snap photos of my makeup, the shoot had wrapped and I was exhausted! In any case, as you can see, I chose the lighter blue shadow for the lids and then applied the darker blue color along the outer corners, buffing it in very thoroughly. I then applied just a touch of the acid green color to the inner corners of the eyes, lined the lash line with an indigo blue liner, and piled on the Covergirl Clump Crusher Mascara. Check it out!
