Clear Scalp & Hair Therapy — Highway To Healthy Mane Street
In life, love, education, and parenting, we often talk about the importance of strong foundations. This same principle — the idea of starting with basics, with focusing on the source in order to guarantee the desired final outcome or end product — can also be applied to the realm of beauty. That’s certainly the philosophy of recently launched hair care brand CLEAR Scalp & Hair Therapy, which emphasizes the scalp since, according to their research, 99% of hair strength can be linked to scalp health. Rather than targeting frayed or split ends, then, as many recent hair cleansers and conditioners have aimed to do, CLEAR Scalp & Hair Therapy shampoos and conditioners prioritize feeding the scalp, restoring it to an optimal moisture balance, and stimulating circulation to facilitate hair growth.
At the core of all CLEAR Scalp & Hair Therapy products is the brand’s Nutrium 10 technology, a blend of 10 vitamins and minerals that includes: aloe vera, which reduces sebum build-up along the scalp, thereby ensuring hair growth, and soothes and moisturizes the scalp thanks to its concentration of vitamins A, B1, B6, B12, C, and E; soybean oil, which can fortify and moisturize hair thanks to its lipid and amino acid content; coconut oil, which is rife with emollient, moisturizing, luster-boosting fatty acids like oleic acid, linoleic acid, lauric acid, capric acid, caprylic acid, myristic acid and palmitic acid; almond oil, which contains both Omega-9 and Omega-6 fatty acids, along with calcium, magnesium, vitamin D and vitamin E, which together work to soften strands and nourish both the scalp and hair fibers; sunflower seed oil, a rich source of vitamin E and a botanical extract often employed to protect hair color from fading; vitamin B5, a natural emollient; vitamin C, which works to clarify hair and remove build-up, while also protecting strands from free radicals; and vitamin E, an extremely effective antioxidant.
The CLEAR Scalp & Hair Therapy line currently consists solely of shampoos and conditioners, with six types available depending on customer’s individual needs: the CLEAR Scalp & Hair Therapy Total Care Shampoo and Conditioner, the CLEAR Scalp & Hair Therapy Damage & Color Repair Shampoo and Conditioner (designed for women with color-treated or distressed strands), the CLEAR Scalp & Hair Therapy Volumizing Root Boost Shampoo and Conditioner (designed for women with limp hair), the CLEAR Scalp & Hair Therapy Strong Lengths Shampoo and Conditioner (aimed at women with breakage-prone strands), the CLEAR Scalp & Hair Therapy Moisturizing Dry Scalp Shampoo and Conditioner (which seeks to deliver relief for women with dry, itchy and flaky scalps), and the CLEAR Scalp & Hair Therapy Complete Care Shampoo and Conditioner (targeted at women who suffer from dandruff). It stands to reason that as the line grows, so will its product offerings, which will likely expand to include styling aid, leave-in conditioners, and deep conditioners and masques. But, for now, suffice it to say that the proper CLEAR shampoo and conditioner should be enough to revolutionize your hair care routine.
For over a month,I’ve been trying the CLEAR Scalp & Hair Therapy Total Care Shampoo and Conditioner and have been incredibly impressed by how much my hair has grown during this time span. Typically, since I have rather dry hair and extremely color-treated strands at that, my hair doesn’t seem to grow past my shoulders — 2 to 3 inches lower being a coup worth celebrating. And, when my hair does reach such lengths, it’s usually in such poor condition that a proper trim is imperative. Since I began using these products, however, my hair has not only grown at a significantly faster rate, but it appears much healthier. In fact, I recently went to get my color touched up and even the stylist remarked that, considering how much I lightened my hair, she was surprised my strands were so healthy. Now, this is not a comment stylists have often made about my strands so I knew I could attribute my hair’s current condition to my new regimen.
Now, the key to having these products work for you is to use them properly. First, when you wash your hair, make sure to dispense the shampoo into the palms of your hands, rub them together to create a slight lather and then gently massage the shampoo into your scalp. As you apply the shampoo to your head, really rub it into the scalp, but make sure to do so gently, applying pressure without tugging at strands or scraping your scalp with your fingertips. I always start by pressing my thumb against the nape of my neck and then, with the fleshy fingertips of my other four fingers, gently massaging my scalp, working my fingers around in gentle circular motions. Next, you’ll want to start working the shampoo along the lengths of your hair, but make sure never to pull or tug at your strands since this could lead to breakage. Also, try to alternate the temperature of the water to stimulate circulation within the scalp and help it better absorb the nutrients in the shampoo. Most of all, avoid applying excessive heat to hair — a steaming shower may sound like a good idea but it will damage your hair and inflame your scalp!
Once you rinse out the shampoo, apply the conditioner as gently as possible, again focusing on the scalp before moving on to the lengths of the hair and the ends. The conditioner smells incredible and does a fantastic job at detangling hair as it moisturizes and conditions, so you should be able to work it through strands with relative ease. When you rinse the conditioner off and emerge from your shower, try allowing your mane to air dry so that heat-based styling appliances won’t essentially negate some of the progress you’ve made. If you need to blow dry hair or tun a flat iron through it, make sure to use a thermal protector spray or serum before doing so.
If you use one of the CLEAR shampoo and conditioners regularly you should hopefully start to notice some positive changes in terms of your hair — aside from it growing more rapidly, it will likely feel softer, appear bouncier, and look smoother and more lustrous. Overall, I’ve been really pleased with the way my hair has been transformed by the Total Care shampoo and conditioner — particularly in regards to its growth. And, of course, the price tag also helps: available at most mass food and drug retailers, the shampoo and conditioner retail for $4.99 to $5.99 each.
