Of Darkness and Light — Marni AW12 Eyewear Collection

Modernity and antiquity converge with Marni‘s Winter 2012 Eyewear Collection, which consists of cheeky sunglasses in slightly retro, butterfly-shaped acetate frames and fresh vibrant colors like neon green, coral red, and blush pink. But that’s not the only duality at play — the push-and-pull between lightness and darkness, as well as transparency and opacity, is explored via etched floral motifs along he upper rim of the frame and the temples.

The rosette embellishments are often treated to appear shiny and resplendent, making them stand out more against the otherwise opaque frames, while the top and bottom edges appears slightly jagged and rugged.
